First Annual Elite Fitness Charity Challenge
The goal is neighbors helping neighbors. They will be having a mini Triathalon on August 16th consisting of a 10 minute swim at WSCC, 20 minute spin bike at the Rec Center and a 2 mile run in Old Town followed by a family BBQ. This year's event will promote Melanoma Awareness and all proceeds will go to the Western Springs family of Bill Rasulo. Trivia Night benefitting the LaGrange Area Historical Society
Saturday, September 13th at the LaGrange Recreation Building, 536 East Avenue in LaGrange. Space is limited and reservations are required. If you happen to be one of those people who knows a lot of trivia this is your night!!!
Doors open at 6 pm, game starts at 7 pm. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and last place(looks like you don't really need to know any trivia). Lots of door prizes and raffles.

Registration for 2008-2009 School Year
LaGrange Highlands Elementary School registration for Kindergarten students and the kindergarten open house will take place Wednesday, August 20th. Grades 1-5 will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 am on the first day of school-Monday, August 25th. Middle School registration will be Wed., Aug. 13th from 7-9 am and from 6-7pm. Families currently enrolled will receive a registration packet in the mail with the forms that need to be completed and brought to registration. These forms can be printed out from the districts website, http://www.district106.net/.

Taste of the Arts at the Theatre of Western Springs
Enjoy an evening on the patio sampling culinary and performing arts. $50.00 per person. This is the 2nd year and promises to be even better than last year! Restaurants who will be participating include The Grapevine, The Magic Wok, Chequers, Events by Tommy R's, Banana Bakery, Ditkas, Bernard's Cafe & Deli, Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe, Capri Ristorante, Balduccis Italian Restaurant, Bella Bacino's, Now Serving Cafe/Catering, A Taste of Vino and La Dolce Vita. Saturday July 19th from 6:30 until 11 pm.
There will be a live auction and a raffle drawing. There will be one act plays going on in the Cattell wing while a variety of musicians perform music on the patio. Young actors from the Children's Theatre will perform scenes from "Sure Thing" and high school students will perform songs from their upcoming performance of "Urinetown". The show will run from July 25-27 in the Cattell Theater. The highlight of the evening will be a sword fight demonstration by R and D Choreography of Chicago. This evening will be lots of fun!
Seniors' Luncheon for Springdale in Western Springs
The 1st annual luncheon will take place on Friday, July 25th at the Flame Restaurant at 803 Joliet Road in Countryside. Come enjoy a delicious meal and catch up with your neighbors. There will be a door prize raffle and musical entertainment.

DuPage Dragons...
Member of the Central Illinois Collegiate League. This exciting team is owned by The Thiessen Family here in Western Springs. The team consists of baseball players with college eligibility(most are from the surrounding suburbs) who are gaining experience playing with wooden bats.
Games are in the evenings at 7:05 at the Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle. It's a great way to spend an evening outside. There is a moon jump, mascot, the kids run the bases after the games and can get autographs. The complex also offers a full concession menu including beer!
