The book with all the summer rec programs arrived in the mail last week. To get a copy call the rec department at 708-246-9070. Mail-in registration must be received by 4:30pm on Thursday, April 15, 2010, Western Springs Recreation Department, 1500 Walker St., Western Springs, 60558. Walk-in registration continues with 1st come, 1st serve on Monday, April 19 at the rec center beginning at 8:30 am.

Non-resident registration begins Mon. April 26 at the rec center. Non-resident forms can be mailed or dropped at the rec center prior to April 26th. Lottery registration for mail-in/dropped off forms takes place from 8:30 am to noon on April 26th. Walk-in registration begins next at noon.

Western Springs Easter Egg Hunt

March 27th 2010 from 9:00am to 9:30am, rain or shine, the Western Springs Business Association will be having an Easter Egg Hunt at the Tower Green.

This is how it works:

There will be different egg hunts based on ages. Plastic eggs will be hidden and filled with candy and prizes.

Western Springs is 125 years old in 2011

Next year Western Springs will turn 125 years old and The Village plans to have a massive celebration.

They are currently assembling a committee to plan the birthday party. These are the type of events that really give a town its character so if you have the time and the talent to commit to making this a great event, I suggest you contact the Village and get on this committee.

Imagine if Martha Stewart lived in Western Springs and was on this committee. Do you think we'd have a great birthday party? We would. Is Martha Stewart better at this than you? Probably. But I bet there are a few event planning ringers somewhere in Western Springs and you're the people The Village needs.
