  1. This is terrible - I loved Vaughans and understand they've been around since the late 1800s. They were top notch and the people there were both knowledgeable and friendly. Sad to see them go.

  2. It's funny but I found this while killing time looking for old friends of mine from grade school back in the 1950s. Andy Vaughan was a friend of mine and we went to Laidlaw School together. He lived right across he street from the school. I still live in the general area but never get by the area where their business was located. I was surprised to see that it as there only a couple years ago. As the previous poster said, it's said that they closed. They were in business since the 1800s. Another old business is gone. 3. I meant to say it is "sad" that they closed. they were an institution in Western Springs when I grew up. Tom Johnston

    1. My wife Dorothy served as a Vaufghan family 'nanny' during summers 1950 - 1951, including at L. MI summer cottage. Where was it? Any Vaufghans who could tell me more? ValpoMel@aol.com

  4. Vaughan's was one of my first jobs when I got out of high school in 1968, and I loved working there, always coming back to help out while I went to Elmhurst College. Eddie Vaughn was a friend I met while working there, and he was always a great friend. I will never forget my time working there, and I have lived in Southern California most of my life, so I will probably never see it again.
